In Memory of Dean Emeritus John E. Corkery
UIC Law mourns the passing of Dean Emeritus John E. Corkery, who led the law school from 2005 to 2016 and later served as Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus. Under his leadership, UIC Law expanded its clinics and experiential learning programs and deepened its commitment to public service through thousands of hours of pro bono legal assistance for veterans, underserved communities, and individuals in need.
Through his own legacy, the John E. Corkery Endowed Scholarship, Dean Emeritus Corkery continued to support and inspire students who are dedicated to careers in public interest law. His family invites alumni and friends who wish to honor Dean Emeritus Corkery’s memory to make a gift to the scholarship and help carry forward his lifelong commitment to service.
